2021 THOUSAND FACES FESTIVAL
Meet the Team for the 2021 Festival!
Aidan McBride - Producer
Aidan McBride is an Edmonton-born theatre administrator and aspiring production manager. A graduate with distinction of the University of Alberta’s Bachelor of Commerce program, where he graduated with a major in Management and Organization, he is in the process of completing his Diploma in Arts and Cultural Management from MacEwan University. Aidan is passionate about the intersection of technical theatre and theatre management, and hopes to help performing arts companies reach new heights.
Aidan’s path has seen him working in many roles and responsibilities over the years, from four years working in studio at Global Edmonton to mixing audio for the Trinity Players production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He has taken part in the production of many conferences and festivals over the years, including stage managing the Canadian Lutheran Anglican Youth Gathering in 2012, site supervision for the Skirtsafire Festival in 2018, and front of house at one of the largest venues of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. Closer to home, Aidan has been fortunate to work with the Oilers Entertainment Group on preparing Rogers Place for the many tours that came through pre-pandemic.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Aidan has been using his expertise in online broadcasting to help organizations, including the Thousand Faces Festival and Theatre Prospero, to adapt and broadcast their content online. He also recently served as Production Manager for Theatre Prospero’s 2020 edition of Enchanted Antlers, and is currently on working on its 2021 edition.
Aidan is also a self-described ‘enthusiastic amateur’ tuba player, and plays with Edmonton’s Cosmopolitan Music Society, where he also serves on the board of directors.
Viktoriya Popovych - Assistant Producer
Viktoriya Popovych is an arts lover currently living in Amiskwaciy Waskahikan (Edmonton). Viktoriya has dabbled in a little bit of everything; she used to sing, dance, act, and paint! She has also volunteered and performed at numerous arts and cultural festivals for the majority of her life. Currently, Viktoriya is finishing her Bachelor of Arts degree at MacEwan University minoring in Arts and Cultural Management and is expected to graduate spring 2022. In 2021, Viktoriya had the amazing opportunity to help create the mythic feast, Strings of Mythic Pearls. With the help of an incredible team and volunteers, Viktoriya was able to curate the delicious feast and the audience's experience. In the little spare time that she has, Viktoriya enjoys watching kdramas, knitting, and thinking about the human existence.
Shyanne Duquette - Marketing
Shyanne is a recent graduate of the University of Alberta's BA majoring in Arts (Drama) and minoring in English. Currently based in Amiskwacîwâskahikan she adores working with the festival to help invigorate the community around Alberta Avenue Community Leauge. This is her 3rd year with the festival and has had the unique experience to grow with the festival as a young artist.

When not graphic designing or marketing for Thousand Faces or Theatre Prospero events she enjoys writing, reading, and playing the sims franchise.
Chris Hicks - Technical Director
Chris gears up for this Theatre Season joining in another Thousand Faces Festival
production, after helping make last years theatrical/video hybrid show Urashima Taro happen! Once again ready for whatever dynamic challenges this production will present, Hicks is ready to continue working, creating more media blurring pieces!
Like many I'm sure, Chris has been successfully navigating the feast or famine, zero to sixty entertainment climate that has been the last 2 years. Including helping make the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, The Grindstone Theatre Comedy Fest, UP+DT and a couple venues for Fringe happen this summer. He is very proud of everything we've all accomplished making artstill happen.
However, who wants to run away to the mountains with him?!
